Sketchbook finish painting

This was a months worth of not painting at all I have done a huge three hour love demo with this self portrait I'll call it and I realized I love to paint its just I have to learn all my basics first oh and yes that is cthulhu back there.

i used a mirror for this one because I seem to do better without a static picture this is three and a half hours so far need to spend more time on it my proportions are close but still not perfect and value needs more work

mom tribute painting WIP

since my mom died last week I've been retouching on old memories I had of her but I think time has made them diluted but I have one memory of her that I can never forget. I was five or so and my mother took me and siblings to a Moody Blues concert I was being annoying and would not let my mother enjoy the show so she whips out of her backpack a huge orange glow stick! I remember it lighting her face and I was in awe at its epicness after that she showed me that if you tie a string around it you can make circles and glow lines in the night air but then I let go of it while twirling it and it went over the fence and she wouldn't let me go get it which sucked but I still love her and will never forget her and all she taught me.

gesture painting WIP

I need to practice more gesture drawing so I did some and I chose this one to paint it was only 2 hours worth of time so I should finish it by this weekend

I finally got the motivation and enthusiasm that I lost since I got back from San Francisco and I really need to start kicking my own ass if I want to meet my 50 self portraits this year (I wanted 100 but When i get to 50 I'll see how I feel ) I really want to spend the time I need to get these self portraits to my level of completion anyway this one took about 4 or 5 hours in photoshop I'm including the reference photo it was hard without good lighting well at least I learned something about lighting.

I found some photos of charcoal projects from school I guess I should up load them just for fun.

getting back into digital

this is my return to digital I have decided to be proficient in both digital and traditional mediums that being said I have started summer classes but I will start again with my 100 self portraits I promise!

I started this painting last week and need to play with it in photoshop because I designed the composition to fit a girl in the middle but every one says leave it be? Well here are the thumbs and roughs then the final so far

Value Study

This is the new beginning on my self portraits since my girlfriend gave me back my tablet I can do stuff digital now so here is one I did in sketch book pro. I still need to get more adept at digital mediums, but hey I must keep tugging at it.

Its hard to choose which medium I want to stick with maybe I should lay off color and just work on my line drawings I mean there is always room to improve your line quality. Well this pic was watercolors and pencil.

whoa its been a week since my last post I do have good reason I'm still sick from the zoo but thats no excuse to slack on work. Wel this pic is my first time with gouache its pretty fun its just really different from acrylic that I've used before like its opaque watercolor and I keep making it to thin with the water I think I'm just being careful since it comes in small tubes well besides that this pic was my first painting since my class so I've gone back through my notes and I know the next one will be so much better.

these are studies from the Scott Robertson dvd I'm just learning how to build form with line which is the first step in car drawing and now I shall work on my ellipses.

yeah I think I'm gonna stay with traditional mediums digital isn't as tactile as I wanted so I will do pastels for real before I try it digitally again. Well this portrait was done in painter 11 with a real pastel brush, time 2 hours I think for the next study I will work on my perspective and Values.

its almost been a week since I went to the zoo to draw and I know the reason I got sick was because of all those kids running around with their fluids and diseases and especialy that giraffe sent some germs my way I shall get revenge! But anyway this portrait came out funny to me because I couldn't decide how and what medium I should use to render I used a red col-erase pencil instead of a regular prismacolor,maybe soon I should decide which medium to stick with maybe paint or pastels? We shall see ,well I hope some people like this one.

couldn't sleep tonight so I banged the first self portrait out. Its okay but I have alot of work to do to be bodacious

The first day of the new year

since the new year has come I shall be doing A challenge to myself And said challenge is 100 self portraits in any medium for me to express and hone some skills in my artistic journey.So this blog will contain these self portraits and all work I deem worthy for the world to see I hope every one has fun watching me grow.
